Are you laughing at moi?

These fascinate me! While I was taking closeups of this little bug, she kept on following my every move as if she was ready to pounce on me! My son's friend caught this charming praying mantis.
It actually looks sharper on my computer screen than on Am3?

Thanks for stopping by! I love to hear any of your thoughts...
Merci de votre visite! J'aime entendre toutes pensees...

Very nice macro, here this insect is named "mante religieuse"
Was your original image larger than 800 px ? It could be explain the loss of sharpness.
If yes, look at the forum for more details

There's a forum?? I never knew there was a forum! I must have been hiding under that rock again! Beautiful image! I've had loss of clarity before, too - I'm glad to know what it is! I agree with riesenriel, this is very well composed!

Nice creature. And not hard to shoot - it does not move a lot, and is almost not afraid of you. Thanks God it isn't a... say - dog-size, or else the mankind would have met its end too quickly. :)

Excellent front view!!! Even the profile works, but it has used its arm to cover its face....what might it be thinking?????As a matter of fact the sharp area around the head - which was I suppose the point of focus - is sharp enough and the rest being in a blurr only creates a particular atmosphere around this insect. It is just surging from among the green, it is not necessary for the viewer to actually SEE where it is coming from.I like it as it is!

Superbes macros... et en plus elles sont rigolotes ! Le titre est très bien choisi. Bravo !

Steph actually beat me to the punch. Since it seems Aminus 3 defaults to an 800 pixel maximum size, you'll want to post an image no larger to avoid site compression. It's also good to be sure it's converted to sRGB before posting, and sharpened as the last step before posting. Resize then make all other adjustments first. Nice looking mantis, and wonderful shot as is though. It took me two years to find my first one to photograph, and they still remain my favorite.

@Dang: thanks for the info, I've got a lot to learn still! :)

Sandrine, I've kept checking and learned that even if we resize the kb it still gets compressed. This shot shows as 56.39 KB, and I'd imagine the original file is around double that. I'm doing some tests myself to find what works best, but haven't found how large the kilobytes should be for maximum sharpness. Hopefully, I'll find a forum post that tells, but haven't run across it yet. Thanks!
